| The Norwalk Economic Development Corporation was created in 2002 by a dedicated group of concerned private business people and public officials and began operations in July 2003. Funding sources include the City of Norwalk, Norwalk businesses and area non-profit organizations. As a public-private partnership, the mission of the Norwalk Economic Development Corporation is to foster a strong economic environment in the Norwalk area that supports businesses and nurtures growth while promoting stability in the marketplace.
Business Retention and Expansion are our top priorities – assisting the businesses in our community and connecting them with the resources they need. Throughout the year we meet with several businesses every week. Our Norwalk Area Business Appreciation Week is a major component of our Retention and Expansion program.
In 2010, NEDC's 7th Annual Norwalk Area Business Appreciation Week reached more businesses than ever before. We met with 116 businesses in just over a week. Fifty community leaders volunteered their time to make these visits.
The Norwalk area is a great place to do business, and attracting new businesses and entrepreneurs is another important part of what we do.
